July 10-12, 2024 Virtual Conference
The beginning of the Telecommunication and Signal Processing conference dates back to 1977, when Prof. Miloslav Filka and other enthusiasts from the Department of Telecommunications of Brno University of Technology organized the first meeting under this title. Because of the success of the first event it was also repeated in 1978 and this annual repetition of the conference has continued till now. Naturally, during such a long time there appeared several important milestones in the life of TSP. The intention of the early TSPs was to get together researchers and academic workers from technical universities in Czechoslovakia. In the 1980s TSP was transformed into an International Conference on Telecommunication and Signal Processing and was open also to participants from around the word. In spite of the centrally dictated political ideology at that time, TSP remained neutral and was visited by researchers from countries with different political regimes. In the 1990s, during the years of economic transformation in the Czech Republic, TSP extended its base of supporters also by commercial entities active in different fields of telecommunications. The first TSP proceedings, indexed with international ISBN number, were issued in 1998. Further on, the TSP proceedings began to be published in both printed and digital versions.
As a response to the massive increase in the number and commercialization of international conferences during the last decade we have decided to concentrate more on young academics, researchers and developers from universities and companies. The reason is that this group of specialists need the most to gain experience of publishing the results of their research work, of persuading other colleagues about the advantages of their novel ideas, but also to meet new colleagues, build new professional connections or even joint teams. The increasing number of participants and countries that our visitors are coming from proves the correctness of this step.
In the future we will do our best to preserve the dynamic character of TSP, efficiently resist the increasing economic pressure and keep TSP accessible to our young participants. We hope that we will be successful in this effort and that several more milestones can gradually be appended to this summary in the future.
