Reducing the Spread of Passive Elements Values in Power-Law Transfer Functions

A method for achieving reduction of the passive elements values in the case of power-law filters is introduced in this work. This is achieved by utilizing a curve-fitting based technique which performs the approximation of the frequency behavior of the required frequency dependent impedances. The employment of the Current Feedback Operational Amplifier as the active element offers the capability of cascading the resulting structure without requiring extra buffer stages. The provided filter and control system design examples, with their behavior evaluated using the OrCAD PSpice simulator, verify the validity of the presented concept.
